2007 Lexus IS250RWD 6MT

So I turned my car on this morning and the gauge cluster didn't properly do the system check. The needles didn't jump as normal and I noticed that the front windshield defrost button blinked slowly for approximately 30 seconds (see symbol below for reference). Although this occurred the system check cleared normally on the screen.


Any ideas? The car turned on but I sensed something was wrong, just don't know what. When I got to work I turned my car off and tried it again. The needles then jumped like normal and the system check cleared, but the defrost button continued to blink slowly for 30 seconds again. I'm sure this means something...

 

That light blinks when the a/c system is doing a check, typically after battery is disconnected. Tou may have a dying battery or draw somewhere. The system voltage was low enough to not move the needles the first time, charged while you drove it and it wasn't parked as long the second time so they worked. Voltage low enough both times to re-initialize the a/c system both times. Just a guess.

 

I forget, if you scroll through the display settings is there a live voltage meter/gauge? Can't remember if this was on my 350 of my GF's new Chevy. LOL!

 

Defender46, your response makes a lot of sense. I'll pay more attention to it and follow along with an update. I may have autozone verify the battery voltage. I hope this is the case because it's an easily fixable one. Thank you.

GVille350, there might be one in the diagnostics hidden menu, but I'm no savvy enough to read it

Do you have a multimeter?

 

With regard to your battery, have you been checking the electrolyte level and adding distilled water as needed? For some reason, this is a task that many owners on this forum neglect. I check mine about once a year, and usually have to add some water. In the much hotter Texas climate the need battery maintenance is even greater.
