Default Thread size needed for tow hooks

Hey folks,

Does anyone know the size of the thread on the tow hooks in the 2IS? The closest I've tried from Home Depot is Standard size 3/4 - 10, but it would not screw in. Would it be something from the metric side?

Please no guessing, because most likely I will need to order it online.

Thanks!

Take the actual hook into Home Depot and check the thread pitch.

Yea..I checked that, but the bolt would not fit into anything at Home Depot or Lowes.

Take it to a machine shop. They can tell you the mm and pitch.

Just for future reference, the thread pitch is 18-3 mm.

Now my problem is to find something with this thread size that is 15" long.

Custom make it at a machine shop?

How about getting a pair of tow hooks or bolts and welding some 3/4 inch all thread to the end. Use a piece of 3/4 inch pipe for a sleeve. That way it would thread into your metric socket and you can use common SAE hardware for the bike rack end.

Ah, I see what you are up to. Though it is definitely more pricey, but you can always get a hidden hitch and get a hitch-mounted bike mount/carrier.
