Bumping an old thread. Here's my experience with programming OEM TPMS sensors to the car.

I purchased a set of used OEM sensors from eBay. Got them scanned at Discount Tire to make sure they were programmed for my car. Installed them on my new wheels and the low pressure light came on. I tried resetting the pressure but that did nothing. I drove around and the light never went away. So, I took it to the dealership to get the second set of sensors programmed to the car. Well, the dealership said they only do it if you buy the sensors directly from them. I then went to a tires and wheels shop to see if they could program the sensors to the car. They were able to read all four sensors but their program could not install the sensors, only the specific brand they carried. I then went to a total of THREE different Discount Tire. The first two, they couldn't program the sensors to the car. By the time I got to the third Discount Tire, I was already giving up hope and cursing myself for not just using the original sensors that came with the car. At first, the same thing happened, the guy couldn't program the sensors to the car. He said if I could wait, he would get the other workers there to try and do it. FINALLY they were able to program the sensors to the car and the light went away. Final cost: FREE

TLDR:
-bought OEM TPMS sensors from eBay
-dealership will only program TPMS sensors to the car if you buy from them
-go to Discount Tire to get them programmed to the car for FREE
-not everyone who works at Discount Tire will know how to do it, you will have to try different locations until you find someone who knows how to do it.

I had to buy 4 tpms sensors, as mine were over 10 years old. So I went to a local tire shop that I trust and they ordered 4 generic, "self-learning," tpms sensors, $70 each installed, a LOT cheaper than any other place. And after some issues with programming, they were able to get it programmed. They had to make sure to have the sensor side of the wheel face the concrete, as the design of the Lexus rim made it difficult to read the sensor with their programming tool (Bartech). So a tip if your tire shop can't read the new sensor.

OEM sensors that Toyota uses are made by Pacific, not Denso. Sensor model # is PMV-107J.
Install Toyota Techstream software on your laptop. Use the Utility section under TPMS section and just program the new sensor ID's in (it's under the Utility section, I forgot what the tab was called though).
Use TechStream to program the correct sensor ID into the car, and they will activate and work properly once installed.

Denso TPMS sensors (for Lexus) don't seem to be detectable by 3rd-party TPMS programmers.
Hope that helps anyone replacing OEM TPMS sensors!

I just swapped my original 2012 wheels on my ISF to wheels off a 2016 GSF and I am having issues getting the sensors programmed. I took it to discount tire and their scanner tool would not read them when unless he had it set to a 2016 GSF and then it wouldn't write to the ECU on the ISF. I also attempted to enter the ID numbers myself through Techstream but they are still not syncing up. I figured they were different types of sensors but after looking online it looks like both cars use the same part. Any ideas?

^^^^I don't know the PNs, but it's my understanding that they are different. I have RCF wheels on my ISF, and the TPMS wouldn't program. I now have VDO TPMS sensors and they programed perfectly.

Looks like I will have to suck it up and buy new sensors. Someone mentioned discount tire will replace all 4 for $180.
Is that a fair price or should I buy the parts myself and just pay the labor to swap them?

Sorry to bring this thread back to life, but has anyone ever experienced not having the tire pressure initialisation setting available in the menu at all? 2011 RWD IS250. Can this feature be hidden by the dealership?

I bought some wheels a few weeks back. Also at the time I ordered all new Denso TPMS's. Then I had a mobile tire company come in to swap my 1 yr old to tires to new wheels. In miscommunication with sales rep, and staff they didn't bring the tool to program them. I told them to go ahead and install. That I would get them programed at Discount Tire. They do it for free by the way. My question is the OEM on the car I could switch from main to 2nd, and the TPMS would never blink. Was the original set programed for both main, and 2nd? As of now the light will blink on 2nd set.
