Costco automobile program
I tried to look for a thread on this but no luck has anyone bought a new or used pre certified vehicle using costco plan? Do they really save you? How does process work?

I thought of this too but not sure if it really works or not. I still suspect they would try to play games!
One thing that I know is that the discount only applies to a car that is currently on the lot - this throws away plenty of options especially if the car you want is not on the lot or you want to special order a car of your liking.

I read online at other forums that the Costco Auto Program price isn't always the lowest price and that you should either forget about the Program or try to go lower than the Program's price. It's good for people who really really don't want to negotiate or haggle on the price.
Like Wunko said, it's more or less for uninformed people who do not want to negotiate. You can do far better doing your own homework on invioce pricing, rebates, and emails to multiple dealerships. Best deals come when you research the best deals in your area (Edmunds.com town square forums) and pit dealers against each other. Competition brings prices down.

What I did was went to Edmunds.com and checked their town square or forums section. There, you can find a thread on recent IS prices/purchases/leases. Scan through all that and see what other people paid in your area. Here in SoCal, there were many pages to go through. Once you get an idea, use the figure you want and email all your local dealerships. Say what you want to pay and the model and color you want. Usually they will all respond to you. Just be sure you are ready before you make the query.

When I went to go buy my 2010 IS250, Carlsbad Lexus didn't explicitly participate in the Costco program, but they were still willing to negotiate with me around invoice pricing, rather than MSRP. It doesn't hurt to ask.
Go with internet pricing. Its the best route. I just purchased an IS250, fully loaded, $42.4 MSRP for $37.4 with an internet quote, Lexus of Mt Kisco, NY

My favorite site to check out MSRP/Invoice and what others pay, how much you can save, etc of all sorts of vehicles including options you pick out.

Since your in Cali i would check with Longo because most of there cars are at invoice. I purchased a car through them about 4 years ago. It was quick and simple. I paid 1000 over invoice here in central cali.
