slot in back of sun visors?

The slots in the visors have nothing whatsoever to do with the ASL function of the audio system.
The slots are simply storage space for things like toll tickets, parking garage tickets, etc.

I cant wait for my lunch break so I can check this out. And just when I thought I knew everything about my 350, I am simply reminded that there is more...
When the OP said "slot on the side" I was thinking it was a slot on the actual side of the visor, but it is on the back of the visor... yeah i've seen this before.
It is still cool to learn about ASL though lol

haha.. sure.
And the asl thing you guys are talking about with the stereo getting louder or quieter with speed is controlled strictly by your speedometer/vehicle speed sensor. It is on tons of cars. I have base model Chevy Colorado's that are delivery trucks and they all do it. Its been standard on alot of cars for over 10 years now.

Depite there being vent holes in the visor for noise absorption, Lexus calls them card holders.
The IS was apparently the first car to use the noise absorption sun visors, yet the card holders were used on the LS430 as well (same part) starting in 2003. They were also used in the Toyota Land Cruiser and LX470 starting in 2002.
They may help to provide a vent hole, etc. but it's not necessarily their sole or even primary purpose.

Just Decided To Look This Up
I kept seeing them and wondering what they were. Noise reduction is not what I was expecting to find, lol.
