Default Being towed question

What happens if our cars get towed not on a flat bed. Would it get damaged? Thanks

On good roads and a responsible towing company, you should be fine (unless youre slammed, then maybe problems). My old car has been towed once when i was in high school, the towing company actually wrote down any dents/flaws before it was towed as to verify if they caused any damage. Now that can be easily lied about if they just add to the list once its where they are towing you to. But like i said, a responsible tow company should not damage your car.

All that being said, i would be very concerned about my car on the back of a tow truck. haha

I've had 2 cars towed on flat beds in last 10 years (Porsche and Jag), no damage resulted.

I think he was asking what happens when its not towed on a flatbed. A flatbed tow truck is the obvious preferred method if you're getting towed because of AWD.

Any good towing company should have flat bed. Request it. I've only had 1 car towed NOT on a flat be but it was FWD so no sweat

Thanks for clarification. I agree, flatbed is preferred choice for 2 reasons, car being very low and AWD, to avoid damage.

The Lexus owners manual should give instructions on towing the IS250 AWD car.

Agreed. I use CSAA and I requested it (twice) and they brought the flatbed both times.

Sometimes requests arent possible...

Some people like to try and park in areas where towing is enforced (apartments, private lots, etc). A buddy of mine got his 335i sedan towed because he went downtown and didnt know the lot was private.

Risky parking leads to risky tows, not planned. Signs are posted and should be read, including fire lanes.

Not really, the flatbed trucks can move cars with 4 flat tires and slammed onto ground.

As long as your not lowered to much or have a front lip, it shouldn't be a problem. IS is RWD so they usually hook it up with the rear wheels, lock the steering wheel straight and let the front wheels roll.

When i call AAA for towing i just request a flat bed. They will have no problem sending you one and most of the time, its actually quicker to get a flat bed to you. I've never had to wait more than 20 mins for a flat bed.

As mentioned before though, whose towing your car matters too. If you get some guy whose new or just doesn't care than you might run into problems. Last time i lowered my Prelude and had a problem i requested AAA send me a flat bed and the guy i got used pieces of wood to get it onto the flat bed without scraping the rear or the front
