question for the MT drivers
Do you guys and girls park using your hand brakes, leave car off while in gear, or both?

When I park I turn the car off then put it in first gear and lastly pull the hand brake.

Florida is pretty flat. Pulling the hand brake up and down is too much work:-S

Sounds pretty stupid not to put the brake on. Its too much work taking 1 second to pull the lever.

I usually just leave it in first gear. I use the hand brake when im somewhat on a slope. Whatsoever so stupid about not using the hand brakes since im on flat ground most of the time?

It makes it easy to move your car - sure you turn the engine when you push it.
It doesnt have to be much of a slope at all to make vehicle move. 25 yrs of driving manual day in day out tells me that.
I value my vehicle.

i agree. better than coming out and seeing your car on the other side of the parking lot and backed into a row of other cars

When I drive a manual I do both. Why not?

In automatic's there is an interlock that prevents the car from moving when its in Park - stops you rolling back on hills etc.
In a manual there is no such item.
Also in a manual the brake is normally referred to as a "Parking Brake". In an automatic its often referred to as an "Emergency Brake".

I pull the ebrake when I park on a flatland; I do both ebrake and in gear when I'm on any sort of slope.
