If you were flooring the 350 then you would be getting worse mileage than the 250 then. Does not seem to be a good comparision in terms of this aspect.
The question is why are you flooring it when you do not need to. It sound like you're looking for power which the 250 was not mean for this, therefore you got the 350.

I think the is250 is a great car for everyday use; i just think its a horrible car for most people on CL, because if your on CL, your most likely in the small percentile that enjoys spirited driving.

seems like a fair comparison to me. He's just saying he has to floor the is250 to get the equivalent of driving an is350 semi-aggressive (ex: to pass other cars). In fact, such a comparison was made on top gear where they raced a prius vs. an m3, with the m3 getting the better gas mileage. I think gas mileage between the 250 and 350 is a joke of a comparison. it really depends on the driver.

That is all. I'm not making a judgment on the 250, other than saying I love everything about it except the power, so I got a 350.

It's not a good comparison, because if you did care about gas milage, you wouldn't be driving like that. Driving the speed limit (60mph) on the I-5, I can easily pass up cars going 55-65mph, without having to redline it.

As far as I know this is the only forum some members "always" argue/debate/have a beef between the two models. And each and every time, the only defense is mileage vs. hp. It's pure comedy!
And when you go to Lexus car shows...it's even funnier. I always hear some guy asking if the dude is rocking a 250 or 350?

Even wtih my Corolla, I did not have problems hitting the gas to pass people.
I even had an argument with a family member before I gotten my 250 about why I wanted the 250. It went along the lines of you don't need that, you just need a car to go to point A to point B, a Prius or Corolla is good enough, not a Lexus. I was like no, why am I going back down on HP when Solara was about 200 HP and IS250 is 204 HP. Solara being a bit more powerful because of the weight (lighter), but it was using a good amount of fuel compared to the 250 which used less. To me this was about equivalent HP with better fuel efficency.

I hear you Dexterr. I picked up a used 250 based on price (less than 25k), age(2 yrs or newer) and mileage (less than 30k). It was like Zeuss himself aligned the stars just for me. The 350's were all out of range for my stringent criteria of maximum purchasing power I'm really liking the car though.
