Default Navigation DVD

Hey guys, I see these Navigation 8.1 and 9.1 dvds on sewell and im curious what they are. I have a 2006 250AWD W/navigation and im wondering if these are update dvds for it. If so, does it matter what generation navi system dvd i use? 8.1 or 9.1? Thanks for any help.

http://lexus.sewellparts.com/data/nav2010cy.php

This will tell you which to use (I think for you is Gen 5). You can get the earlier versions you list above, but I'd personally get the latest and greatest ver 10.1

Thanks for the info! I only listed the above versions because those are the ones on the sewell closeout sale. But i cant use the member discount with that closeout sale. For the price i didnt think it'd be a bad idea to update mine

Default Over priced!!!

I would think $200 dollar for the Navi DVD update is totally over priced!

Did you apply your CL discount and the $50 rebate for returning the earlier version DVD before coming to that opinion (don't think there is a big discount on this though)? Did you look other places to comparison shop? Sewell's price has always been significantly lower than my local dealer.

Yes i thought it was over priced too..but the sewell closeout sale has the 9.1 Navi DVD update for only 75 dollars. Regular price is 198. So i think thats an awesome price for an update. Especially with my navi still running on whatever the it came with in 2006!

Some say Lexus as a name brand is overpriced. The price you have to pay to roll with the bling...

It's insanely overpriced for map updates (my Garmin was $99 for lifetime updates, published quarterly, for example).... but it's as cheap as you'll find for a genuine Lexus map update.

They've got a captive audience after all...unlike Garmin which has competition for on dash nav units, if you want your nav to be in the dash you're pretty much forced to buy the Lexus nav, which locks you into either the terribly overpriced map updates or using old maps.

What is so great about the updates? All they do is update the maps correct? IF that's the case then I'll stick with my android phone for navigation.

I just upgraded my 07 Nav disk to the Gen 5. I used it alot (Real Estate) and the Gen5 has more of the newer homes. The only complaint is I notice it likes to route me the long way. Even if the more direct route is a left turn on the next road, it wants me to go 4 more blocks down and do a loop. Just have to watch the Nav doing that.

I paid $175 plus shipping and it is not the cheapest. Yes, you can buy a Garmin at that price but I decided to upgrade since the factory Nav is my main Unit. I also carry a Garmin 1490T as a back up.

the new updated disk has more small streets than your 6.1 disk version and one thing I notice when some one call in it shown their caller ID I had 6.1 version before which didn't shown CALLER ID but the new one did that one thing I like about.

Any working disk for your 07 IS will be Gen 5. Your car originally came with version 6.1 of the Gen 5 disc; the current release is 10.1 (again, Gen 5)

Hate to burst your bubble, but showing caller ID has nothing to do with which nav disc version you are running. It's Lexus' nannies in action again. If your car is stationary, all caller ID information is shown. If your car is moving, caller ID will only be shown for callers who are in the car's (not the phone's) address book, and even then only the name will be displayed.
