I didn't need to remove mine, I just pressed really hard on it to make sure it made contact. I didn't feel anything move or hear any 'click' sound, I just felt like an idiot pressing on a harness. I had that annoying airbag light on for probably over two years. Then I finally took the time to just pull the panel out and press a connector. Been almost a year and the light has not come back on. This is one of those "I wish I did it sooner" fixes. Don't over think it. Just press firmly on it and you might be pleasantly surprised.

thanks Keith!

Good news, my airbag light is out. I used a TINY flat bladed screw driver to gently pry the center (yellow) portion of the connector up/out (it pops up) - and once I got it out the connector came off with a little bit of wiggling. I highlighted the area where I placed the tip of the screwdriver under to pry up in green in the picture below - screwdriver handle was up in this picture generally aligned with the two wires coming into the connector. Take note of how this yellow piece is oriented as it comes completely out, the pictures helped a lot to be certain for reassembly.

Cleaned the connections with QD Electrical Connector and put a little dielectric onto the metal prongs, reconnected the connector and pushed the aforementioned yellow center section of the connector down to lock it into place.

I hooked the battery back up, and put the car into ignition on mode and once the self check completed the light went out and has been out for a few days.

Thanks to all here in CL for sharing the knowledge!

Again, don’t forget to disconnect the battery and wait at least 15 minutes before touching anything related to the airbags (yellow harness and connections).
