I'm in the process of potentially buying a 2008 IS350 with the SRS light on. A couple weeks ago the current and original owner received a letter from Lexus stating the harness would be replaced per the TSB at no charge. The car is 11 years old but is low mileage (45k). The dealer here in Michigan is going to pickup the car next Monday and take it in for repair.

I got a letter last week from Lexus as well. It's a new Customer Support Program that will last until 6/12/2020. It's different from the TSB.

How does it differ? The letter seems to address the SRS/wiring harness problem

Right; you can definitely take the car to the dealer to have this issue fixed under the CSP for free. The TSB applies to car under 6 years old. The CSP lasts until next year with unlimited miles for any in service date.

Does anyone have an estimate or a quote from a dealership in writing about this issue? I got it repaired long time ago but cannot seem to find the receipt since i moved. The new warranty which covers the cost also reimburses for the previous expenses regarding this issue, I plan to file a claim but cannot seem to find the receipt. I was wndering if someone here has one and can share it?

It would help me claim a huge expense which incurred 4 years ago due to them not admitting their design fault. Please help. Any tips regarding reimbursement procedure and or any experience with lexus reimbursement department would also help.

Thanks

The airbag light on my 2011 ISF kept coming on randomly recently. Tried the trick on page 7 of this thread (pushed in the sensors on both sides). The light has not come back in weeks

I had to recently do this again after fixing it a few years ago. I used dielectric grease before but this time I used PB-Blaster to clean it.

I did the disassemble and use dielectric grease and it fixed it for a month or two. Light returned and took it to the dealer for the extended warranty claim. Lasted for a week and light has been on since. Haven’t had time to go back but don’t have much confidence in this actually getting fixed.

Well, after 3 1/2 years of doing ChumpusRex's fix, the Airbag light came back on, and isn't going away. Took it to my wrencher who scanned it with his ODB scanner. It returned a B1861 error which means replace instrument panel wire harness. I called Lexus (800-255-3987) and the said it's covered under CS Program ZLJ, which ends June 2020. I have an appointment scheduled for next Monday, I'll let you know how it goes.

OK, I got my car back. The issue looks resolved, no more AirBag light ON. But the stealership seemed a little salty from not making any money from me. So they gave me ridiculous list of "recommended" repairs.

AC service $215
replace air filter $109
brake fluid flush $229
cabin air filter $129
oil and filter change $129 and get this...
replace rear half shaft and CV boots $3825

Me: "nah, I'm good, thanks!"

I don’t know if this will help anyone but I just *pushed* the drivers knee panel and the SRS Airbag warning light came off. Must’ve been
loose or something. I’m glad it was an easy fix for the B1861 code.

Default 2008 IS250 B1861 Airbag Light

I have the B1861 code and talked with Lexus who told me the TSB is expired as of June 2020. They said I can bring it back but I’m on my own - so I took the drivers knee airbag off of the dashed but can’t seem to figure out how to disconnect the yellow and black electrical connector to clean and try a little dielectric.

does anyone have the video JST17 was sharing a few years back that they can email to me - just PM me and I’ll send you mine.

Or, can someone explain how to remove that connector?

Pic below.

Thank you in advance!
