Default Traction control off in the rain/wet?

Who else beside me likes to turn off traction control while driving in the wet or rain? I can't stand how traction control kicks in mid turn or while your accelerating when it's wet out there. Don't get me wrong, I still drive carefully as I don't want to spin out of control in front of someone and cause a pile up. Unless it's pouring out there or if there's alot of standing water, traction control is turned off.

Btw, i'm running stock rims with Bridgestones re760's with 80% thread left.

If you are slipping in the rain, you are going too fast. Careful my friend. Don't want to see anything bad happen.

Thanks Man, I usually am. I'm still trying to get used to driving a front engine/rear wheel drive car. My other car is a mid-engine car (MR2 Turbo) that I have had for 20 years and my other daily drivers were AWD (DSM Talon/eclipse) or wrong wheel drive (Integra). I notice traction control kicking in and giving the car that bogging feeling mainly in mid turn only going 10-15 mph in a intersection.

Are you running a six speed or AT? I often find that in my six speed that I can't turn it off to have a little fun... atleast past 30MPH...

I turn it off to have some fun when there's free space and no traffic But with an is250, the fun is limited

My old 4runner i had, i would be damn near reckless in the rain (on purpose) because i was "young and invincible", had it on two wheels on a few occasions... Scary, but FWIW, offroading gave me a lot better feel for how to handle it, but i probably should not have been doing all that ha.

If you just press the "Trac off" button, traction control turns itself back on at 30 MPH. See the FAQ stickied at the top of the forum for details on how to turn it off completely for your particular model year car.

I turn my traction off in the snow and on ice. It drives me nuts how it kicks in at the slightest of wheel spin and then you become immobile. I have an 06 so it also drives me nuts how i have to turn it off in the start of the start up.

i turn my traction control off in the snow as well, if you know how to drive properly, I think it is actually safer than having it kick in every time you slip a little and make you immobile.
I'm kinda nocturnal cause I'm a University student so I always try to look for reasons to go out at like 3 or 4am so I can drive and slide around every corner.. its also a good time to learn how to properly handle the car when it slides.. =]

For me I sometimes have a heavy foot and the TRAC keeps me in line during a turn either from a death stop or rolling. I don't understand why someone would want to turn it off when its raining or even snowing. Wouldn't you want that to be on even more because your back wheel will have a higher chance of slipping in those condition? I am however glad I have an 08 where I can turn it on whenever I want as long as I am at a full stop. It is very easy to get wheel spin with the IS350.
