I had my 2006 IS 350 with 40K done at the dealer (Arrowhead Lexus) about 2 month ago. The engine has been louder, especially when cold at an idle. It almost sounds like a diesel. It's going back for checkup.

Your headlights have nothing to do with your valve springs.

hey guys thought i'd give u guys an update. I got my car back from the dealer after the valve recall and everything is so far so good. been about 2 weeks now. They were nice enough to put air in my tires too. woohooo.

I took it to Lexus of Westminster if any of u guys are wondering. My SA says they have done a bunch of the valve spring recalls already so I would assume these guys are some what pros at it now.

It doesn't but dealership will put a note into their system when they see it. How do I know? First hand experience with partial voided warranty. My car has almost every aftermarket part possible on the 2IS.

Next time when your ballast is screwed or anything with your headlights the dealership won't fix it.

Nor should they if the problem is caused by an aftermarket part.

If it's not caused by an aftermarket part then they can't, legally, "void" anything regardless of what notes are in their system.

Why would the dealer fix something that is caused by aftermarket parts? When they perform the valve spring recall and notice aftermarket HID they will put a note in their system. Next time if your headlights have condensation or if you blew your fuse the dealership do not have to fix it.

Hi All,

Just got my car back today after the valve spring recall. I'll post if i have any issues, but I can't imagine there will be. It runs better than it did before.

As far as service, I could not be happier. I've never had a single issue with Lexus of Watertown, MA.

They did the recall, and also performed the TSB for the cold start rattle. I have tried to have them replicate it in the past but they've been unable to. Seeing they were going to rip apart my entire engine anyway, I asked if they could take my word that I have the noise and perform the TSB...which they did.

They also filled my tank, vacuumed, and balanced my winter tires for half price.

Again, I don't expect any problems, but will certainly post if I encounter any. It feels like its a brand new engine. Maybe its my imagination, but it feels more responsive than before. Maybe 24 new valve springs and 2 new camshafts (TSB) will do that!

How can you get the $1500 certificate and $500 gc?

I received my recall letter in the mail, but it didn't say anything about any certificates or gift cards. That would be nice.

I picked my car up today. Dealer kept it a total of 8 days. While it took alot longer than they said and I expected, the service overall was excellent. Car drove fine on the way home although I didnt have much of a chance to open her up due to the weather (I am glad to be out of that 250 loaner). I did notice the burning metal smell (normal smell until replacement parts wear in) after I parked the car. While the service was excellent, I am concerned about some of the things they found while replacing the valve springs.

While doing the recall they said that one of my valves was bent so they replaced it. They also said my head gasket was leaking so they replaced it as well. They took pictures while the enginge was dismantled, saying it was for there records and to get it covered under warranty. I wasnt charged anything, but are bent valves and a leaky head gasket normal on an engine with 75k. Do you think I will have any problems in the future? The car seemed to be running great when I took it in, would i have noticed having a bent valve?
