Default Vanity Light Inop

Both of my vanity lights are not working. I have checked fuses and all seem to be working. Specifically speaking, what fuse should I look for? Anything else I should check?

go back to basics! swap bulbs, and if that doesnt work go with a multimeter on VDC between the terminals on the car and it should read 12v if not somethings wrong

How do I open it up to get to the bulbs? I don't want to break the plastic piece. Of course, I wouldn't think it would be THAT expensive to replace lol

I had the same issue. Luckily I had just bought the car (CPO). They covered it under warranty. I was told there was a broken circuit within the visor itself which resulted in the failure of the light. I was a little miffed that the CPO inspector didn't catch that, but since they covered it without any fuss, I couldn't get too bent out of shape. They wound up replacing both visors entirely, which solved the problem, and those suckers aren't cheap. I hope you've got some warranty left, because if not, you may want to consider how badly you really need the lights. I can't remember specifically but I think my S/A said they ran a couple of hundred each.

I didn't get the specifics on what or where the broken circuit was, but per the above posts, I would guess it has something to do with how far the mirror cover opens and to what extent it closes the circuit--that would explain why some people may have had luck with jiggling the cover.

Mine showed a cost of $300 and some change each! I couldn't believe it either.

Just pull down on the plastic surround with your fingernails. It's held in by a clip and pops right out. One side comes out easier than the other.

Reason 367 I'm getting an extended warranty... (most reasons being a variant of 'Lexus parts are insanely priced')
