Default HID kit

I got my hid kit from HIDXtra today. No time to install today, but managed to snap pictures of my factory halogen and saw something interesting. You tell me if you find this interesting or I am hallucinating.

These were taken with my iphone4, btw.

Just speaking as a photographer, I think the iPhone saw your garage door and saw that it was white, and since it was being lit up by your headlights it compensated by changing the white balance to make your garage door white. Thus giving the appearance of your headlights being too white. Just a guess, does it look really white in real life?

I just bought my 2010 IS250 earlier this month. The premium package comes with MOST IS250 even though you tell the dealership you want the base model. Premium package does not include HIDs. HIDs come when you get the technology/sport package which is the navi, 18inch 5 spoke rims, back-up camera and the HID lights. I think I am correct with what I stated since I spent much time looking at lexus before I bought one

HIDs are available on 2006 models in two ways:

In the Luxury Package
In the Sport package

This means if you have memory seats you have HIDs, otherwise you do not.

For 07-10 models it comes 3 ways:

In the Luxury Package
In the Sport package
As a standalone option if you have neither package

Therefore there's no "other" option you can look for to be sure you have HIDs.

There's a much easier way to tell than trying to see if your lights have a certain color, or sound, or look though.

Use the multi-switch to the left of the steering wheel. The one that looks like:

<o>

If one option listed is AFS ON/OFF then you have HIDs. Because all factory HIDs have AFS. If you don't have this option, no HIDs.

For 2011 models there is no AFS offered anymore so you guys are outta luck on an "easy" way to tell.

Thanks Kurtz for the info. Definitely helped me see that I do not have HID's. Wasn't 100% sure because the lights do output a much "whiter" light than other halogens but since don't have memory seats and do have a 2006 I can now rest easy knowing there is no way I have HID's.

Nope. In real life it looks as yellow as a halogen can be but is definitely brighter than my other cars.
