Sorry, couldn't find this on search. Does the 2011 2nd refresh mean the IS will be redesigned in the 2013 model year?

In other words, with another refresh (2009 & now 2011), does that mean Lexus will sell the car for another 2 years? I find it difficult that they will do a total redesign without letting the refresh sell for at least 2 years.

This means the 2nd gen IS is slated for a 7 year cycle (2006-2012), correct?

The BMW 3 series is confirmed on a 7 year cycle (2006-2012). They also just refreshed the 3 Series in 2011 (love the 335I's new single turbo engine) and will have an all new model in the 2013 model year.

It makes sense that Lexus will follow suite with their main competitor.

 

if the model is selling well i dont see why lexus would do a redesigned. look at the SC models, lexus kept them for quite a while. i dont think lexus has a rigid cycle they follow

 

I would imagaine 2013 or 2014 would be time for a total re-design

 

You haven't found any info on this because Lexus has not released any statements on the outlook for the 2IS. You will only find speculations browsing through the 10 other 3IS threads. But the general consensus is that 2013 will be a complete revision.

 

Yeah, I also think we will see the 3rd gen in 2012 as MY2013

 

Remember the IS is based on the GS. So the next GS debuts first which will be next year. Then the IS will debut afterwards, likely in 2012 as a 2013 model. Expect the first IS hybrid and maybe a IS F coupe and a real IS coupe.

i want to see a IS Coupe and a IS-F Coupe... but if it dont have 300+ HP forget about it.. i dont want it.....

 

Sounds like you have some pretty good sources. I'd say those are pretty reasonable expectations

 

when i bought my 2010 IS250 2 months ago, the dealer told me the new re-designed IS would be coming out in 2013.

 

Lexus is working on a competitor to the BMW M5, Jaguar XF-R, Mercedes-Benz E 63 AMG and the Cadillac CTS-V. Known as the GS-F sedan, the model will arrive sometime in 2013 with a detuned version of the Lexus LFA’s 4.8L V10. The capacity of the 4.8L V10 will be reduced to 4.6L, helping it produce 450-hp.

The GS-F will be followed by a new Lexus SC that will hit markets in 2014. The current model is due to finished production this July. Sources say that the new Lexus SC will be a hybrid model powered by a 5.0L V8 with an electric-motor delivering power to the rear-wheels.

 

I just read something from Lexus released in May that the v-10 in the GS is not going to happen.
