Default Brake Help Needed Quick!

Hey guys -
My car (is350) is at the dealer now for the recall work to be done on the valve springs. They just called me and told me that I need new front brake pads and that the cost of of replacing them and the front rotors was $695.

Is this accurate? are there alternatives?

dont do it!!!!!!! they rip you off!!!!!!!

I bought EBC rotors and EBC redstuff Pads for $313(FRONTS) and had my friend install them for me.

Buy ur own and take it to a shop to get them installed, the probably wont charge more then $150. You will save money

^^^^ I second that statement.

Take your car to a shop. It will be a lot cheaper

Good Lord!!!! You are not reasonable if you take that price. Go learn change it by yourself. It's not the hardest thing to do. With OEM parts from Sewell, it will be below $300.

Also, check the pads and rotors yourself. I'm guessing since they are doing the recall for free, they don't wanna let you go without paying a single cent. Don't trust everything the dealer throws at you.

This is another DIY job!!! I was afraid of doing it myself, but after getting a few quotes, I decide to save myself $$$ and just did the front/rear rotors and front brake pad replacement this weekend, it is fairly easy.

Ask the dealer for the measurements of the pads and rotors that caused them to think they need replacing.

I'd bet they really don't

(and even if the pads did, I'd bet the rotors don't)

(and even if they did their price is insane)

^^^ I love all these responses. +1 for DIY or at least taking it to an independent shop for half the cost in labor.

^ that's the problem I run into also. I have no garage to work out of. The labor isn't the issue but they told me that the parts are just expensive (god i hate the dealership). I'm glad I asked you guys, and did some research myself today.

I think I will just take it to Midas. They told me they would do it for $360 (front pads and rotors).
