2011 Headlights (merged threads)
Well thats another positive note!!!
I have been considering it... Will have to find a way to get rid of that light first.
Next detailed question...
With the customized wire harness you will be providing..
How do you wire the LED's to turn ON??
Is it default ON with DRL Function?? or is it with one click ON the light stalk??
I remember with a 2011 in the showroom I was able to turn ON the LED's by turning on the Parking Lights with one click.
(no key present)
Reason I ask is for all of us that have the DRL's turned OFF..

The "one-click" on the stalk is for tail/parking lights with DRL still on.

Sewell has customized the wire harness... So we have no idea how the DRL / LED will operate on any 2006-2010
IF they connect it to work with the OEM DRL, then so be it..
My observation of the 2011 LED function is that it can also be controlled by one click on the light stalk when the car is off..
Which leads me to believe, if I owned a 2011 and had my DRL's Turned OFF by dealership...
The LED Function can be Turned ON with the Parking Light stall on one click..

Capisci ?

Keep in mind in all this, our focus was to get an operating, functional 2011 IS LED headlamp to work on the previous models. We did not focus on the operation of the 2011 IS.
AFS light comes ON only, it does not flash. I can't say that I've ever experienced this light flashing (on/off/on/off/on/off...). Frankly, I turned my AFS off to see how much it would bug me and really, since there's other lights on the instrument panel, I didn't pay much attention to it.
To get the LED's to come on, it is with one click on the stalk. The LED for the previous models is not a replacement to the DRL. However on the 2011 model, it is the DRL at full brightness. When you turn the headlights on, the brightness dims (I'd guess 50% dimmer). For the conversion on the other hand, the LED is at one brightness only and comes on with one click of the stalk. This allows the driver to turn off the LED's when necessary - remember, they are bright!

In a nutshell, it sounds like the DRL Function will be non operational as well...
Joe Z
Wait...you say that for non 2011 models... The LEDs are at one brightness only. So does that mean for people who do the conversion... Do the LEDs stay at full brightness all the time or dim (50% brightness) all the time?

... in others words the LED's will be at 100% Brightness...

Also,in the Middle east we got our wiring a tad bit different. We do not have DRLs, (middle east specific)
Im not sure of our wiring, but what does that mean for us? Would the LEDs not work?
Im not familiar with the wiring of the lights or anything, so any input would be helpful,

Darrel, a few more questions about the retrofit:
1. Are you saying the LEDs will not come on when the engine is started? In order to get the LEDs to come on, you need to turn the headlight stalk to the first click where the parking lights turn on?
2. With the headlights on, the LEDs are on full brightness (unlike the 2011 car, where the LEDs go to about 50% brightness)?
Thanks. (Rangers had a nice win Friday night.)
