Default LED City Lights

I used to use 501 LED bulbs like this:

I later realised that these start flickering and burn out quickly and was advised by many to go for the SMD ones. So i then replaced with the following type of 9 SMD:

It's been less than 20 days since i installed these. At first they looked awesome. No flickering but i've just noticed that on one of the bulbs, the front facing SMD LED is off, so i'm assuming these also burn out quickly.

Am I doing something wrong? is there a particular type of SMD that i'm meant to be getting? Now i seem to be loosing my confidence with the SMD versions aswell.

Would really appreciate some feedback on this.

Thanks

Uhhhh no you need something with a 168/194 size, not a 9005 like the other link. Try something from this page:

http://www.v-leds.com/194-168-158-LE...orLanding/true

or

http://store.ijdmtoy.com/W5W-158-161...Bulbs-s/35.htm

You might want to avoid the 68 LED ones as I believe they won't fit. Never tried it myself. I have 27 LED city lights from V-LEDS and they were weird once but I just jiggled the cable and they're fine with about 40K miles of pure night driving (I have 85K miles on the car).

I just realised that the one SMD led that i thought is burnt out, isnt actually burnt out. It actually turns on initially and after a few minutes it turns off. So i'm wondering why this is happening.

Could it be because of the heat inside the headlight unit? If so would the following bulb be a better option:

This one says that it can take the heat of the headlight housing

Did you read what I linked to in post #4 of this thread? I'm trying to help you out but if you're just going to ignore me and ask questions that have already been answered, what's the point?

The LED you linked to there is not ideal for parking lights because they only fire forward. You want an LED that fires radially as well to fill out that area of the headlight assembly.

Get these: http://www.v-leds.com/Interior-LED/G...38587-1-2.html

Thanks for your reply. I did read your thread that you linked too. But when clicking on the one that you recommend to go to the V-LED website, all the user reviews are for non-headlight applications. Some of the V-LED bulbs actually say safe to use in headlight.

^ The one I recommend (the 13 SMT) is used by many for the parking light, and I haven't heard of anyone having problems.
