So my hood got rock chips like a lot and I bought my car (obsidian) to the local body shop for repair. They said the only way was to repaint and I did it. It was about 3 weeks ago and now I just discover that the front part has some dripping and the whole hood has bubbles like tiny bubbles about a quarter of a millimeter.
I paid about $400 for the job. I'm planning to bring it back to complain but I don't know what I should say because I didn't see these blemishes when I picked up the car. They waxed it really shiny and I was kinda blinded because of how beautiful it was at the time I picked it up.
I mean what are they gonna do? do they repaint it for me cuz this is their mistake or do they charge me a little bit to repair the dripping and bubbles?
I also got a lot of water spots on the hood and fender. They seems impossible to take off. I tried vinegar and wax (foam wax not quick detailer) but no improvement. Any suggestion?
that's definitely not acceptable, have them refund your money or paint it properly
can't really tell from the pics, but circular defects that look like a bubble of paint burst leaving what looks like a pin hole in the paint is probably "fish eye" caused by silicone contamination of the paint
that job is unacceptable, definitely take it back so they can re-paint it for you. I got those water spots too, the only way to take them out is buffing them off.
The paint was put on too thick - that's why it ran and bulged at the front. That's probably why you're having the other problems also. It needs to be sanded down to the previous coat and re-painted - carefully this time!
Try to get your money back and go elsewhere. If they want to repaint tell them if it isn't properly done next time then you want your money back no questions.
The shop that repainted my hood is called "Fountain Valley body shop" at Euclid and Talbert, at 92708. They have 2 locations, the main one is for insurance fix and this one is a more affordable place for people pay out of pocket. They are known to have good reputation and this is incredible.
The swirl marks was caused by me. I was so frustrated of the water spots so I tried rubbing with my thumb and still no help.
Can anyone confirm that the water spots can be fully remove by a buff? I'm worry about the water spots more than the dripping.
Let me explain how the water spots got on there! I was parking on the driveway like 4-5 days ago and next day there was so many water spots on the hood, front bumper, driver fender and driver door panel. I guess neighbor sprinkler sprayed on at midnight. I thought these spots would be easy to wash off with a car wash and lately I have been super busy with my job so I haven't washed it at all until saturday night. On saturday night I got a car wash then I hand-dry it with a micro fiber cloth and those marks came off but there was still all the subtle marks there. I tried to rub hard with the cloth, use vinegar and even wax it but they dont come off. It feels like they already "eat" in the clear coat. Can anyone confirm that a buff would take them off?
