No, they work separately. The head lights can go on and the nav screen can stay in day mode. There must be a separate sensor.

There's a round sensor on the top of the dash, right of center. That's the light sensor. If lights are in parking, on or auto, when it gets dark enough outside, dash and nav will dim.
yes and no. you can keep it in day mode--but you can't manually trigger night mode unless you cover the sensor on the dash
That's what I'm looking for. That sensor has to trigger a line into the Nav, be it with voltage or ground... One of them has to be an input that I can manually cut and control.
I want Night mode at all times.

The dash/headlights have one sensor and the nav has a separate sensor.
I did check today and the dime sized dashboard sensor in front of the passenger toggles on the headlights, and drops the nav into night mode a short time later.
Back to my main question:
Does ANYBODY have a pinout diagram for the back of the nav?
There is a last click on the dash light dimmer dial control. If you back in off that click at the brightest end setting of the dial, it will then change automatically.
