well i just changed it 20K ago and the manual says to change at 40K. I have 42K so it's been half as long as the manual says. I don't drive in dusty dirty conditions either

air filter is always going to look dirty if its been in the car for awhile. if its been only 20k and its rated for 40k no point changing it. thats the point of a filter...to get the dirt out. its going to look dirty.

Dont replace it with the oem. Just do K&N. Cleanable and feels a bit nicer

aren't our cars very sensitive to how clean or dirty an air filter is? i'd change it. i had an oem one that wasn't as dirty as yours but changed it to a Blitz filter along with a Joe-Z intake.

You might as well change it if you've put that much effort into removing the filter to take a picture and create a thread on it

Change it ASAP or do what others have already said, upgrade the filter or intake.
