Default HID Question

I just picked up a used IS250 and for some reason my driver side HID continues to go out after a few minutes of driving and in order for me to get it to come back on I gotta turn off and turn the lights back on. Since I didnt buy the car from a Lexus dealer I gotta tho a bunch of bs to get them to fix it.

My question if I just order a standard H11 HID kit it should just plug up like any other car or would I need to get a special adapters or harnesses or anything along those lines.

Thanks for the help!

if you have oem HID's, check the bulbs. you can find the DIY instructions using the search function or in the 2is FAQ.

don't need a kit man, the h11 kit is for OEM halogen lights. All you would need to do is swap the bulb. As far as it coming on and off, probably a wiring issue. I'm no expert in lights, so I'll let the others chime in.

the most likely reason why that specific bulb requires a couple of flicks to turn off and on is that it's probably gone bad. it'll need replacing soon.

sounds like the bulb is bad on it. swap the bulb from one side to the other if the bulb does it again get a pair of new bulbs.

I'd recommend switching the bulbs around to see what happens. If the same side goes out you'll know it's not the bulb and there are other things you need to check. If the other side goes out, then it's probably a bad bulb.

H11 bulbs will not fit if you have OEM HID's.

Seems like a lot of people like the "xenondepot" aka kbcarstuff.com. I just ordered my kit from them a couple days ago.

you can get some inexpensive 8000k D4S bulbs from places like xenondepot, HIDXTRA or carlighttrends.com - both are approved CL vendors and have discount coupon codes.

but if you're looking for something closer to (imo) oem quality, go w/ the garax 8000k D4S bulbs from carllighttrends.com or wherever else you can buy them.

8000k for OEM? 4300k is OEM, 8k should be putting out a blue tint already. The Garax 6k are the best bet. They are bright white. Or you can dump your wallet into some Phillips Ultinon 6k.

Yes D4S is the exact bulb type for our HIDs. No Kit required, you're getting confused. A kit is for non-hid lights to be converted to HID. You have HIDs so just bulbs, no wires, no harness, no ballast.

read much?

i said oem QUALITY (maybe i should have said oem-LIKE quality to clarify), not oem COLOR TEMPERATURE. the two are not the same thing.

speaking of which, something for those looking for aftermarket D4S bulbs to consider:

any cheap D4S bulb can output light of a certain color. however, a high-quality bulb will output the color of its color temperature rating, last longer, and won't be a liability to your 2is lighting system.
