Default Loose exhaust?

Hey guys and gals,

I was driving home not too long ago when a s2k approached me while I pulled over. The driver asked me why was my exhaust shaking so much? I have also remember that I've seen a stock IS with stock exhausts shake before too. Could it be an issue with the rubber hangers? Has anyone else notice or have this problem also?

Most likely the hangers. On our caravan to BOS I remember watching a lot of mufflers moving around lol (that and 580/680 is terrible lmao)

Double check to make sure one of your hangers isn't loose. If not, I wouldn't worry about it.

I don't have this issue... and I haven't seen it on any ISX50 I've driven behind.

note: all exhausts I have seen are either lexus hks/f-sport, or stock. Maybe other aftermarket exhausts are have thinner rods onto where the hangers mount on causing the extra bouncing around???

A little vibration should be normal. I haven't noticed this on mine.

I believe I had the same issue on a 2006 is350; exhaust is really "bouncy." You can try it by just "dribbling" the exhaust like a basketball and it will bounce up and down without much resistance.

What I did was put metal hose clamps over the rubber exhaust hangars of where the mufflers are attached to. Now, they have noticeably less "give."

This is normal. It's the rubber hangers, it's to absorb vibration from transferring to the interior cabin. The E46 M3 does this also. As well as the Acura TL's and CL's, Accords, etc.

I bought 4 Cusco exhaust hangers, this remedied the "problem". However, you feel more vibration at idle.
