Default HELP! Sunroof won't close

Just got a call from my mom and the sunroof on the IS250 she's in won't close all the way. It will close almost all the way and then reopen. She said she accidently pulled the shade close while the sunroof was still open. Anyone have any idea what this could be?

Yeah im sure it something like that. If I was with her I probably could figure it out, but shes up in Santa Ynez wine tasting. I just did a search and found a way to close it by holding the auto button for 10 seconds. Im gonna call her back and see if that works for them.

u might have to put it on the auto position and then hold it down till it closes.... i work at a dealership and something like that happened to one of our is350's... it turns out the switch was broke. Just something to look in to.

something might be caught in the gutter of the sunroof preventing it to close.

happened to me too...

push UP and HOLD the sunroof "auto" button until the sunroof fully opens - repeat for closing.

This should fix the problem.

The dealer today said the sunroof needs a new motor? That sounds kind of strange to me considering it still slides back and forth, but just doesn't want to shut all the way. Its covered under warranty so can't complain.

Default Omg!

Thanks for this thread. I just got a used 2006 IS350 and the sunroof was doing what everyone else was saying and the reset worked perfectly!! It was weird because if I hit the auto button to stop it while it was closing - at around the point it would reopen - once stopped, I could hit the auto button again and it would close the rest of the way. I was using this trick until I got this reset and was worried it would be an expensive fix. Now it's all fine!

Loving this forum!

This freaked me out a few days ago, but then went away.
Today I was about to go into gym - and nope, wouldn't shut. I was freaking out.
Google showed this post when searching.
THANK YOU!
Pushing the auto button and holding down for appx 10 seconds reset it and all is well!
