Default Nice surprise on the freeway

long story short. I was driving home from school and out of nowhere I heard a loud noise. 20-30 seconds later a small crack appeared on the top of my windshield. By the time I got home(20-25 mins later), it turned into this.
A picture is worth a thousand words.

Sorry to hear. Happened to me already, had to replace my entire windshield. It starts to crack and spread like spider webs due to the change in temp. (like being in the heat). Does your insurance cover it? Good luck.

Same thing happened to me except I was on my way for an alignment.

Yes, my insurance will cover all the fees for the new windshield. One of the good things about living in Arizona.

Happened to me also. My insurance would not give me oem glass... I got PPG glass though, and it's pretty good. No disortions, wind noise or anything like that. And it actually beads up water.

I hate when that happens....

I always make it a point not to be behind semis & large trucks...

That happened to my Jeep, just like that on the hidden edge. Noticed it a week later when the crack started spreading.

^^^ Agreed. Better that it cracked you windshield instead of leaving a dent and nice chip in your paint.

sorry... happened to me too, hit right on the driver side edge and started as a star, but by end of the day it spread as a horizontal crack halfway across the windshield. My ins co. wouldn't pay for the OEM glass either, so I got the aftermarket one which is ok but I could swear the car was quieter (less wind noise) when I had the original glass.

^^ maybe it's the just the quality of the installation, stuff never goes back together as good as it came from the factory.
