Question for Tire Guru's??
So I have a pair of tires in my garage that have been sitting there for about 5 years(90% thread left). They fit my fronts perfect 225/40/18(stocks) and they are pretty bad ace tires Dunlop SP Sport Maxx 9000.
My question is, are they still useful?? Like can I use them, there is no holes or cracking on the tires at all, Im just a little hesitant, idk if tires wear out with time if not really used... Thanks in advance

yes tires do expire. its recommeded to not use any tire more than 4-6 years from the date they are manufactured. this date can be found on the tire in the form of a 4 digit number. for example, if the number says 2603, then the tire is made in the 26th week of 2003.
of course if your tire wasnt stored properly, then they wont last all the way for till the 4-6 years

There is a shelf-life for all tires even the tires are new and sealed (in a clear coat of some kind), and typically about 4-6 years depending on their manufacturers.
As you recall, all tire shops' saying ".... this set of tires have X years or upto XX,000 miles on thread life by the manufacturer....". Yes, there is a expiration time for tires.
Yes, you can use them if you find a shop willing to mount them, but you are on your own. They prolly ask you to sigh a liability waiver in case something bad happen.
For more info, here is one good example about this:

Good luck~
