What is the USB port in the 2010 IS used for. Is it used by the Ipod kit or is it used for something else.

And can the port be retrofitted into a 07 IS.

haahahah that comment got me laughing. but i've been reading up on updating my navi and i read that the new 2010 lexus used that usb port to update the maps and all. Don't know what other use they have for it but prob thumb drive for audio or what not.

 

i just leased an rx350 for my wife and you can plug in an ipod to the usb and control it through the radio. Im jealous.

 

USB port for iPod, iPhone (charges it also) and you can stick a memory drive or something and play music, videos, movies off it. I'm glad they made the USB for 10' models because my last car had one and I couldn't live without it.

i have that usb in mines but i dont think you can play movies off of it...

 

I have the 2010 and I just leave my ipod plugged in. It charges it and I can control the ipod. Also, with the iphone, as soon as I get into the car, it connect automatically and I can also play music from the iphone without ever having to take it out of my pocket!

 

Please tell me there's a way to mod an '08 for this. :-)

 

wow i'm down for this too... is the head unit the same? or is it slightly different never been in a 2010 before... maybe it's time for a test drive
