whenever im in reverse and moving with my foot lightly on the brakes, it makes a squealing noise. but this only happens when im going in reverse. when im moving forward the brakes are perfectly fine. anybody have the same problem? is this normal? thanks!

You must have directional brakes

hold on a minute, it may not mean they need to be replaced. Mine are nearly brand new, and they squeak sometimes in reverse.

It very well could be that the brake pad has been conditioned in a certain groove and direction and when you reverse, you go against the grain figuratively.

I'm not braking expert but it seems logical.

when you let off the brakes there is still a small amount of contact between the rotor and pad, it could still be the brakes even though your foot is not actively pressing the brake pedal

It may make the squealing noise because there isn't enough contact between rotor and brake pads because it's lightly pressed. Press harder when reversing and see if it squeals.

mine does that every time i leave my garage *reverse out* from a cold start, then it never does that for the rest of the drive, dont worry about it... the time you do worry is when it makes the squeaking sound everytime you press on the brakes when your driving.
