Default black grill

I am thinking of blacking out my front grill and the surrounding chrome of the windows but am not sure if I should get them painted or would black vinyle work just fine?

the only reason i would lean towards the vinyl is that if it does not work out i can redo it. how hard is it to remove the vinyl?

that is a great reason reason for going vinyl, i'm not sure how hard it is to remove but for sure its possible to remove.

if you can i'd go vinyl because painting you have to scuff up the chrome hella good for the paint to stick well, also when u want to get the paint off you have to sand. of course when you sand you ruin your chrome finish. so if u want to go back to stock you have to get a new one.

just take your time and do a good job so you don't have to overlap the vinyl on top of itself to cover it

I have my grill wrapped in vinyl, pretty easy and holds up well (the top two inner corners is probably the hardest to squeegee down correctly). Removing the vinyl is easy, just heat up a corner and peel. My friend just got the window trim on his e92 done, looks pretty good.

I would say vinyl i guess, I tried painting mine; had to take the grill off, sand it down, and then paint it black. Looked really nice the first month, but then with normal road conditions, the paint started to come off and it looked pretty tacky. I had to go to a Carbon fiber grill which I am MUCH more satisfied with. IDK how the vinyl would last though. I say go with CF!!! :-)

Thank you. IMO the color looks very much like SGM in pictures, unless I have a really good camera...pictures won't truly capture the color to it's fullest.

^If you have worked with vinyl it should be easy. It also depends on the type of vinyl you are using, the first type my friend used didn't stick too well to the chrome. If you do it yourself, take apart the whole grill bezel it makes it a lot easier and would be best to get a full wrap entirely around.

do it once and do is right, sand it down and paint them yourself, just go to lexus and get a pint of watever color u want and do it, no vinyl stuffs will get chip rocks and will look bad... just keep in mind everything u want it to look professional or good it will take time to prep... preparation is the key to success !!!!
