Default auto dimming mirrors always auto dim?

im thinking of blocking the sensor behind the rearview mirror with a piece of black tape or something. when the sun is behind me while im driving it shines and when i look at the rearview mirror and side view mirrors it's bright as heck. so usually when this happens i put my finger over the little opening while im driving to cut some of the glare out. has anyone here have thier mirrors dimming all the time? PS i dont have window tint. still debating if i want them because when i had an is250awd the back window reflects all the lights on it when i tinted it. i had a post on it over a year ago. i hate the way it looks at night. my boy 2009 c300 and my wife 2007 toyota camry xle does it also.

sounds like there's something weird with yours. mine dims whenever there's a light shining from the rear.

I have a little piece of black electric tape covering mine. I wish you could just turn it off, but it turns back on again when you restart the car.

I find that when the sun is behind me, it's early or late in the day, and what I find is that it dims when I don't want it to, rather than not dim with the sun beaming in. That sensor on the back of the mirror determines if it's day time, and when the sun is behind the car, that sensor is not in the direct sunlight, so the mirror dims.

my doesnt dim in the daytime. it only dims at night or when it is close to getting dark. at high noon or 1pm when the sun is bright how do you get your to auto-dim when the sun shines striaght in the mirror? i just put the tape on it dims all the time now. question for you guys... when yours dim is the day time is it blueish on the side mirrors and green in the rearview mirror? at night all 3 are green but in the daytime my side mirrors are blue.
