hey guys so i bought this used 08 is350 on thursday and its certified and everything car runs smooth and everything seems find but the other day my friend asked y the motor is making a weird sound kuz u can here it from the outside and not the inside so i opened up the hood and its like a lil knocking or ticking sound =/ is that normal??

 

so i should just bring it back to the dealer and have them check it out? since its under warranty?

 

is it a ticking or clicking sound? if so then its normal...thats the injectors

 

If you are talking about a 'ticking' sound comming from what seems to be the top of the engine, then its probably the normal injector noise. Yes, it at first sounds a bit awkward, but its normal. All IS (and practically all Toyota engines) make a ticking sound, and its louder when the engine is cold. You can hear it in your car when the engine is idling, but it gets drowned out under acceleration.

 

Probably injectors but I would take to dealer to be sure if ur not sure

+1. it's the direct injection system.

no need to take it to the dealer for something the 2is is supposed to do.

considering the number of monitoring/failsafe controls on the 2is, if the issue is something the 2is isn't supposed to do, you'll definitely know.

 

yeah its the ticking sound on top of the motor to the left side so its just injectors? normal? hahah

good to hear. i had similar concerns at first, but come to find out it was just part of the 2is's engineering and design.
