Default Key not detected...

After I put my car in neutral and shut off the car to keep the radio on without going to park and turning the engine back to acc. Now the car won't accept my key and says "Key not detected". My remote doesn't work anymore. What the... ran into my first problem with Lexus.

LOL the exact same thing happened to me today. Our batteries in our keys just died. I have to go to Lexus tomorrow to get a new one.

Why would you go to the stealership to get a battery?

I am guessing it is the battery in the key???? Make sure you let us know how to change it...

The battery (normal Li-Ion battery that you can pick up at any Radio Shack or Walmart) is trivial to get to. Just remove the valet key and pop the case open by prying at the edge of the case. The instructions are in the owners manual...

I just bought the car 3 months ago so I don't think the battery should be dead. The key fob was actually lighting up but the car wouldn't recognize it for some weird reason. Not even the buttons when I tried to press it. I ended up not locking my car last night in case the key fob won't work anymore and if I need to get inside of the car. Lo and behold I went out this morning to try and drive it to work and it worked as normal. What a weird issue.

I was doing step #2

Just so you know, leaving your doors unlocked was unnecesary. You can manually open the locks with the key insert from the fob.

If you look just behind/below the handle, you'll see a small slot area where you can insert the key from the fob, and pop the corner plastic off. With the lock cover off, you'll see the lock-- just insert the key like you would on a keyed-entry vehicle, and unlock/lock the car.

And if your Key fob is dead just hold the fob right to the START button and press it a few times until the car starts.

I had the same problem today. Very easy to solve. You take the key out the plastic box and you open it. Then you just replace the battery. Don't panic, there is no reason. :-)
