Default Cutting down the tailpipe

[QUOTE=ahmed24;4919404]
  • If you are going to keep the current exhaust then just cut it like i did to that length. (This way it stays clear from moving around and damaging bumper or even burning bumper)

ahmed24 -- Did cutting down the tailpipe increase the noise? Did you lose any power, etc.? I would just like to know if it was worth cutting off the 3" of pipe and losing performance since I imagine that the muffler was specifically designed that length for a reason. Just curious. Thanks.

(Love the mod by the way! Great job!)

Your bodyshop could paint bro. To paint the bumper separate from the without blending is awesome.

Anyone know how hard it would be to fabricate these utilizing an ISx50 bumper? I have a new exhaust with hideous tips and want to cover them up.

to each his own, but IMO you took the worst part of the ISF (the ugly quad tips) and put them on your car.... props for being different, but I can't say I like it.

The black muffler tailpipe length is there to hold the nice stainless steel oem tips in place.

If you cut that off... you will not increase noise and you will not lose any power..

It's actually the job of the paint mixer/matcher....

I have had several pieces ferfectly matched on my Honda and the Lexus.. Never had to blend into other panels..

if you hit a 99% match the rest is easy..

Hey Mike,

What system did you end up with ??

Fabricating a bumper is a waste of $$$$.. The easier would be to do the F bumper cover and componets.. if you want your rear to look like an F and also hide your exhaust

I was just getting ready to text you about this. I'm thinking of buying your CF tips, taking measurements off of a IS-F bumper where the tips would go, and cut my exhaust openings (lack of better terms) bumper to the correct size.

Wow almost a year later this thread comes back alive. Thanks for the positive feedback everyone.

Tajai7 - like Joe Z said, there is no effect in noise or performance for cutting short the tailpipe from the muffler. They're to hold the shiny tips.

Heres a more recent pic of the rear end conversion:
