335i coupe = POS!

I had one for 4 months before I got rid of it for my 350.

It was in the shop 8 times!

HPFP failure, VANOS failure 3 times, oil cooler, Creeks everwhere, adapt cruise stopped working, dealer scratched all 4 of my rims and dented the car. It was an electrical and mechanical nightmare! Worst part is I called BMW NA to complain and they were just rude!

Have had my 350 for a few months and the only problems I have had are hard water spots and a scratched rim!

A client of mine had a 335 conv and his car went limp all the time also.

It's nuts what pieces those cars are.

Beyond that you cannot beat the pure luxury of a Lex!

haha our stories are almost exactly the same. had the 335i for a few months, too many problems, traded it in for an '09 IS 350. and yes the luxury of the lex is definitely phenomenal.

yes i know your a lexus owner but thats extremely biased... not all BMW's are POS maybe YOU might think they are all lemons. But for most BMW owners there BMW is nice sophisticated luxury transport. I bet there have been IS350 lemons so you dont have to go all out and crap on the BMW. I have owned a BMW X5 and it was a great machine not one problem at all. Think before you type please...

You are right. Not all BMWs are Lemons. But the car that’s having the most problems is the current 3 Series. Just go to your favorite BMW site, any one of them, and you’ll see that problems with the 3 Series permeate the discussions. Most of the owners are familiar with the limp home mode as they have all experienced it.

The consensus is you roll your dice and take a chance whether your car will have problems. Most of them do and are usually iorned out through many warrant repairs. Just check Carfax. I plan on going into this knowing what the outcome may be. Which is why I have a second more reliable car (1999 RAV4 – 225,000 miles) available at a moment’s notice. I know I’ll need it.

^^^its true. in general the 3 series is among the worst in reliability. the hpfp problems have been so widespread that even bimmerfest members are getting fed up. of course you are going to have your lemons here and there but you have to look at the average statistic. there are so many different things that can go wrong with the vehicle...i have heard it all from overheating, hpfp failure, sunroof switches, window regulators, radio freezes, water pump problems, transmission failures...the list is endless...

if you want a nice reliable vehicle stick to lexus.

Thank you EVERYBODY for this insightful discussion. I've decided to hang on to my IS for a long while longer until the next great car catches my eye. In the meanwhile, to tide me over and satisfy my thirst for something sportier, I'm having the full F-Sport suspension (minus the rear brace) installed tomorrow in Milpitas (NORCAL!).
