Default Thinking about trading in my 250 for a 335i...

Took a ride in a friend's 328i convertible this weekend, and even though it is the smallest engine available for the 3 series, I was impressed at how sporty the ride was. I'm thinking about trading in my 2008, fully loaded IS250 for an 07-08 335i coupe or convertible. Has anyone felt similarly or done the same?

i know this doesn't answer your question but i think you may wanna check out a 350 then. as biased as i may seem seeing as how i own one, from everything i have heard and felt, the only argument that people can give as to why the 335 > 350 is that it handles better. in practically every other category, the is350 wins hands down.

I'd like you to sit down for a moment and think long and hard about what you've just said, Mr. sandwiches, because that makes absolutely no logical sense to me whatsoever. You should consider looking at the IS350, because my thoughts are that you will greatly regret trading in a sporty, reliable car for an electrical nightmare (an expensive one at that).

I say go for the 335i...it seems the is250 doesn't satisfy your needs for something sporty.

the 335 > 250 would be a nice upgrade.

Don't do it, you'll end up regretting your decision. Like everyone else has said, you might want to consider looking at a 350 before considering trading the 250 for a BMW.

Sure, the BMW might be sportier with a better suspension, but the quality of the interior is poor. The leather seats are hard and the dash lights are terrible. Maintenance is going to cost $$$$$. Just my opinion.

Thanks for the input guys! I am seriously reconsidering my thoughts now. Maybe a suspension upgrade would help my thirst for something sporty

just lease it, my gf has a 08' 328 and its such a pos, no joke it has been in the dealer a good 20 times since she leased it. Random crap goes wrong all the time.

The service rep saw my car and told my gf that she should buy a lexus if she wants something reliable... lol

Don't get me wrong the car handles great, has pretty good power, looks great but as for the nuts and bolts

a drop and sway bars make the IS feel like a rock when cornering...

if I were you, and you wanted speed + handeling - I would stay away from the 335i.

Go for an IS350 with a drop - say coilovers with 14K fronts/10K rear (nice and firm set up) and an F-Sport sway bar.

I think you should check how much 335i coupe/convertible are going for. It's way too expensive if you compared with IS350. Remember BMW has so many things you can add that will cost you a lot more, close to $10k compared with similarly loaded option on IS. Even paddle shifter cost extra. You might as well go for IS F.

Why don't you test drive IS350? maybe you might like it, unless you want a convertible 335i.

As for BMW, a friend of mine owned 2008 BMW 335i. It have many problems. Something is always up with the engine. I believe he take it in 4 times a month.

But if you want to get a BMW, I suggest lease it first with buy out option?

I used to work for BMW, while working there, i saw how bad of a POS those cars are and went and purchased my brand new IS250 6MT which was almost $100 more a month than the BMW employee program..... You should of seen the general managers face... I am currently employed by Lexus and i have yet to have a problem with my Lexus unlike the BMW's that wouldnt open, turn off randomly, freeze up, etc...

Just as I read this..... my mom's 03' 330CI convertible's passenger door lock just stopped working... And somehow the oil gets low at least once a month... so i HAVE to leave a bottle in the trunk

Don't get me wrong, its a nice car... but really, unless you pay 12,000 like my mom did its not worth it at all

For me, my IS250 (or any IS for that matter ) > BMW 328/330

Also, I think the 328 and IS250 have very similar HP numbers.... so i would consider the BMW a downgrade.... less options for higher price =

Keep the lexus and put on some sway bars!

It is a well known fact that BMW makes great cars to drive, they just aren't great cars to own!!
