hey guys! i was wondering.. what is yall's commute time to work? i'm debating on continuing to live inside the loop in houston, or take advantage of the market and buy a home in katy which is about 27 miles from work. i would be taking i10 all the way to work.
is it worth it? how far is the drive for you? please share your thoughts
Stay where you are!!! Why move OUTSIDE the loop to Katy and have a 25-30 mile commute on I-10 to downtown vs. being inside Loop 610 and being within 5-6 miles to downtown??? You are the first person to want to move further away because you like to commute. Sure, I-10 is good now after all the construction is complete, but it is still a hassle to drive in the morning and evening. B-O-R-I-N-G. Also, why beat your car up with flying junk being flicked up by other cars? You'll end up with rock chips and body damage by flying rocks, pieces of tires, cans, bottles, mattresses and everything else that winds up in the main lanes. Don't do it.
I commute everyday 80 miles to school (5days a week) and I love the car. I think I'm cutting down to only 3 days and drive another car instead. I hate putting mileage on my car.

Well the deal is .. I’m living in an apartment now and so I’m kinda sick of throwing my money on rent when I could have a home. Tx is offereing a 8G tax credit for first time homebuyers. I cannot afford a house inside the loop because you’re looking at at least 250K for a decent location. So it’s either live in an apt for awhile or suck it up and drive and have a house….

Man texas is cheap lol here a small house like 1,500 to 2,000 sqft house cost 350,000 where I live and im 40 miles from the city!
My commute was usually 45 minutes round trip into the city. But at times it got to be too much with traffic and constantly trying to find parking. So I just settled on taking public transportation for the most part.
