Default Another Tire Question (will my tires rub?)

I tried a search, but I think this is a little too specific of a question (which might mean I can't get a good answer even with this thread, I'll see).

Anyways, I need to replace my rear tires very soon. I was looking at RE960AS Pole Positions, but they don't have the stock tire size of 255/40-18... or if they do, they're not listed at tirerack. I was thinking of going with 275/35-18, but I have aftermarket rims in with a +31 offset, and I'm lowered by about 1" in the back on Teins. So my question is if anyone has experience with a similar or even more aggressive set up. Do you think I'll have any rubbing issues?

Thanks a ton in advance.

... If you have any feedback on these tires, I wouldn't mind that, too.

With only a 9" width on an 18" rim, you should be ok even with a 275 tire.

I had 20x10"s with a +30 offset and it rubbed with a 275 tire. But that was a wider rim and a 20 so I had less clearance. With a 255 tire, I was fine.

Thanks for the reply, shadow. Was your car dropped at all when you put on those tires?

Anyone else?

I'm pretty worried about rubbing... I'm almost starting to consider 245/40-18 just to be on the safe side. I don't really want to downgrade, though. Damnit, why can't they have the right freaking size in stock.

My car was stock height with the 275's. Even with rolled fenders, it rubbed the letters off the tires. I swapped on 255/35's when I dropped the car on Tein's and rolled the fenders even more. It still rubs now, but it's not too bad. Keep in mind though that I had 20's and the larger diameter brings it closer to the body so it will hit more.

Alright, my 100th post. Gotta make this one count!

I've got the fsport springs drop with 265/30 rears with 19's and no rub. Looks good!

What is the offset on FSport wheels though?

F-sport wheels offset +40 both front and rear. 8" front 9" rear.

I guess I misunderstood that comment... I mean that could theoretically mean that the bigger wheel/tire combo just filled out the gap (it's been so long that I don't even remember how big the factory gap was), but anyways, question answered.

So I guess you lowered it about the same amount as me then... probably about an inch? Sounds like I could have gotten that size afterall. Ah well, I chickened out and ordered Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Pluses just now since those are newer and had the size I needed.

Thanks for the help everyone.
