Just noticed that it clicks when I steering more than 1 turn to left and back to center. I can both hear it and feel it through the steering wheel. It's not the break, I have tried to do u-turns on the parking lot without break and still got this sound. Very annoying!! It started day before yesterday and disapeared yesterday and came back today. Anybody know what it is and how to fix it?

Thanks in advanced!

can you locate where the sound is coming from? steering wheel itself, steering colume shaft? joint spindle?

if you still have warranty, take it in to the dealer and let them find the problem.

Check the brake line, might need a clip replaced.

Ok, some update...

The click sound came from somewhere behind the steering wheel and under behind a plastic cover above the pedals. sounds like a bit of plastic thing hitting somewhere inside the steering column...The service guy at my dealer tried to fix it by puting in some isolation material (what he told me) anyway, it worked for a day without the clicks but came back day after with more clicks than I had before... not good. Will leave my car with the deal again next week let see if he can fix it then...

So what can cause this clicks when turning the steering wheel? Has anyone ever take apart the steering column? any pics of whats inside?

Thanks!

Never heard of such a problem myself. Problem could be a factory defect. Glad its still under warranty. Hopefully the dealership can figure out the main/real problem. Good luck.

Don't let the click discourage you! Our cars are great. Just have it checked out by Lexus. Ask for an F loaner

Thanks! I really love the car alot. The tech will spend some time with it next Friday and see if he can solve the problem. They will probably just give me another 250 as loaner or an RX I doubt they will give me an F, but they do have 2 F demo in the show room. I will ask them!

Some update on this...

Got this issue fixed at the dealer for more than a week ago. The click noise came right back day after and disappeared completely day after that day...hmmm

However, I'm now getting some new noise from the steering wheel after this fix. It is when I switch the turning signal (to left or right) and turning the steering wheel, I get one weak click/pop from the turning signal relay on each full turn of the steering wheel (that will be 2 pops at full turn to left and 2 to right)..

The tech at the dealership said this is totally ok and told me to not worry about it. But I didn't have this poping sound when I got the car, not even when I got the other click sound. Anyone know what this is? Its really annoying since the car is so quite (well, most of the times... but I think I start to hear some rattles here and there from the center dash..hmmm)

I take a very minimalist approach with my cars. If it's something that doesn't seem to bother me too much, I'd rather not have the dealership fiddle with things and risk ruining the otherwise pristine integrity of the vehicle.

I have an '09 IS 350 and I know what you're talking about, if you turn it to the very extreme I will hear some clicks. They are very very faint though, and also like you I can feel them through the wheel. It's not too big of a deal to me, I'm fairly sure it's nothing major.

But that said maybe it's an undiagnosed not so insignificant problem so it's definitely worth mentioning. What did they say it was?
