Default Ticketed for Front window tint

Damnit,
Just got nabbed on Friday. This is the 2nd time in the Simi area that I got a ticket for tint on my driver's door windows. (once for my IS300, once for the IS350).

Damn CHP pulled me over on the 118 south in Simi. My front tint is very very light. He said that they have a new initiative to crack down on the front tint since it's causing too many accidents. BS, they are just trying to raise revenue for the broke *** state.

Anyway, if you are anywhere near Simi, roll your front windows down. The cops there suck.

I forget the actual percentage, but it's the second lightest one...

I think it was 50% front, 35% rear.... this was to ensure that it wasn't too dark and to avoid harrassment.

I can totally understand that a cop hates to come up on a limo tinted car and they can't see what's happening inside. You can clearly see me in the car, especially with the sunroof open...

I've driven by a ton of cops, none seem to care about tint in Ventura county... but Simi cops are a bunch of ball busters.

And yes, I understand the law is for not tint at all, so I shouldn't be complaining... but damnit when will we put this on the ballot for vote so we can all have some amount of tint on the car to keep it cool, after all, it's sunny here 300+ days a year!

I've used 35% for 8 years on front windows without a problem.

I currently have 35% on all 5 windows of my IS350. Yes, limo tint on back windows is not a great idea, especially if it obscures 3rd brake light.

But I have reminded my cop friend that I might be asking him to sign off on any future fix-it tickets, and he said no problem.

^^nice.

What always worried me is that it gives the a REASON to pull you over... so after dinner and 2 beers, you are now at risk for getting a DUI.

I guess it's better off without the tint for this reason, but man it's going to look so silly with no tint on the front!

And that's not a "gray area" either. I've gone back to using front plates on all my cars, without it's just too much of a cop magnate for my taste.

Hey guys if you are having problems do what I did and go to your eye doctor and tell them that the sunlight really bothers your eyes. They will give you and excuse to have window tint no lie! I used it twice now and the cop let me go both times. =)

I guess that's what happens when your state is forced to write IOUs to it's debtors!

Are you talking about the 118 near Simi Valley? The 405 doesn't go to Simi Valley =/ I'm just wondering, because I live in Chatsworth, and I take the 118, 405, and 5 all the time. I haven't gotten my tint yet, but oh man; getting pulled over at 50% front tint?! I was going to get 35% all around too.

I guess our state plans to get out of debt $15 at a time then... I bet administrative costs exceed the $15 that fix-it ticket will bring in. No wonder we're in such a deep hole. haha
