I would never buy another continental tire again. On my last set of the Extremecontact, they fraudulently advertised the wear rating at 300 but the actual wear is like 160. Lesson learned.

isn't the treadwear information usually inaccurate?

May be, but only to a certain degree. When buying a tire I take into consideration all factors such as wear rating, temperature, and price.
I normally stay away from tires with tread wear rating of < 200 because they wear out fast. That's what the rating was devised for.

I have them on for about 6000 miles and so far, do not have any problems. my only complains would be the grip which i find rather slippery when it rains and the noise. it seems to get noise after a while.

i believe that the Conti brand is from Germany and hence most of the european cars have it on the stock wheels.

Last I knew, Continental was owned by General Tire. I had a set of Continentals on my old Mercedes. They ended up being really crappy tires. Best day I had with them was the day they came off the car.

this is what a rep from tirerack said:

"Although we have not completed a full evaluation of the Continental Extreme Contact DWS, I have had the opportunity to drive them on our auto cross track and real world road course and can offer some comments. Based on my experience with these tires, I believe you will find the Continental superior to the Goodyear in wet traction and low noise. We have not tested the Continental in Winter conditions yet but expect it to rate very well in snow traction."

the goodyears he is refering to are the Goodyear Eagle F1 All-Season..

When lookking for a tire I usually look for the best performance for the type of driving I do. Since I'm in the NE and put 4 snows on in winter I prefer hi-performance in summer.

My goal is to have the stickiest compound between me and the road. The longer wearing the tire, the harder the compound = decrease in handling & stopping.

I will spend the couple extra bucks for the stickier tire, my life might depend on it.
