I love my candy apple red IS250 but I am baffled by the bells that sound and then don't when I get out of the car, open the doors, etc. Can anyone explain the rhyme and reason to these bells?
Also who planned the location of the parking brake? I've engaged it at least twice just getting in the car.
What bells are you talking about? lol. I don't hear any bells on my car
If you mean that loud BEEP when you open a door, you probably have the engine on and the car NOT in park... keeping it in park before you open doors and such should solve your problem.
if its not thats, I have no idea what you are talking about. ....
oh, and welcome to CL Matador Red is the best color!!
GiantsFan, I'm pretty sure you have to turn off the motor before you open the door to avoid the annoying chimes. Just putting it in park isn't enough.
I think im thinking of a different beep then Im thinking of the warning one ... the only time my car has ever beeped when opening doors (like OP had said) is one time when I had opened my door with the car in gear ...
From what the OP said... thats the only thing that came to mind... as I said, I had almost no idea what "bells and sounds" he is talking about ... My car never beeps ...
JGrasso,
Could you describe the situation and sounds a little better? (like engine on or off? car in gear or park? Seatbelt on or off?) Because there are many beeps for this car, and its a little hard to guess ...

Welcome...I think we all need a few more details. I know my 06 would make some noise if I turned off the car and the sunroof was open, or at times it would chime if the door was open before killing the engine. The cmmon theme was always chimes after the door was opened, it was just a reminder.

bichon is right.. i had that problem .. just make sure the car is off first then open the door
otherwise it is your e-brake or your seatbelt or the key is not detected..
I think the bell you're talking about is when you open the door while ignition on I assume. It's just letting you know that your car is running in case you walk away.

Did your car come candy apple red? I think it's Matador Red to be exact.
Didn't you see the Parking brake when you bought the car? I haven't stepped on it ever getting into the car.

I've accidentally kicked the parking brake while getting in the car a few times myself. Happens most frequently in the winter when I plant my butt in the seat sideways and then kick my shoes together to knock off the snow/sand/salt/etc. before swinging them inside the car. Doesn't happen when I've actually applied the parking brake instead of relying on the pawl in the transmission to immobilize the car.
