Apparently you skip a lot of posts...

OEM nav is not, nor has it ever been *bad* for resale value. The article Kurtz references is not only over 2 years old, it only states that in their *single* example, the nav component may have depreciated more than other portions of the car. You'll note the bottom line is that the Nav car sold for *more* (it did not cause the Nav car to magically depreciate below the value of the non-Nav car, nor will it ever.)
OEM nav is more of a staple in today's cars than ever. I will never buy a car without it, and there are lots of people that feel the same way, which is why OEM nav sales are *up* (not down). In addition, OEM nav usually integrates with other car components (i.e. backup camera, touchscreen radio/maintenance controls.). However, OEM nav does have it's downsides too, which have been well documented.
Yes, OEM-Nav will depreciate. However, almost all electronic devices depreciate in value. The fact is my Garmin that I purchased 2 years ago is worth about 60% of it's original value, so the argument that OEM nav somehow causes your car to lose value (or depreciate more) is a blatant ... inaccuracy.
To the OP: I maintain my original position. If you are going to get OEM nav, it's smarter to get it at the time of purchase due to the time/labor of purchasing it afterward (but it is "do-able" to purchase later).
If you are ok with after market devices and there associated mounts, and you feel that you want/need some of the Garmin, etc. functionality and are willing to sacrifice the non-OEM benefits (some of which have been covered here), then I would recommend going that direction.
Feel free to PM if you have any questions or concerns. I've had both OEM nav vehicles and non-OEM nav vehicles (with aftermarket options), and I'd be happy to share my two cents.
Good luck!
