3rd Gen IS speculation thread
Road and Track believes it will debut in 2013 as a 2014 model and that it will be based on a stretched version of the new Toyota FT-86 platform:

Afterr working for Toyota for four years, and meeting with multiple regionals who all had "inside knowledge," I have one thing to say: there are more rumors spread by car company employees than there are by teenagers in a high school lol.
Not to say that there won't be a new one in 2013, but I hardly think that a Service Manager would be one of the first to know, and that he would the inform a random customer.... here's hoping he's right though

Granted I'm guessing all the "info" they have is subject to change and not set in stone.

^ I hope that burlappcars rendering isnt real. It looks more like a face lifted ES 350 or camry. Honestly I can't wait for a redesign of the ISxxx, i am really hoping toyota will include a better transmission like many of the other manufacturers especially this day in age;DCT and include 7 gears for automatics. The high compression in our engine really irritating as well limiting the power. Toyota did say it's going in more aggressive look like audis and bimmers i hope that aggressive look motto also includes a engine that can back up the looks department. I hope they introduce some force induction I4s or sixes.

I agree, but when we just bought ours we heard the same thing from two different dealerships (one in Cleveland and one in Buffalo) That the '11s are out now and the 2012's would be out regular time next year but be a short run as the new redesigned 2013's would be out early.

We will have to wait and see but after five years of owning my IS I still like the lines and overall tautness of the 2IS, it doesn't look dated or old fashioned as many designs do after that period of time. Lexus did well back in 2006 for the IS, not so much for some of their more recent models.
