Call around to the bigger tire stores and see if they can do it. I can only imagine in today wheel market, customers would be pretty pissed if couldn't... I think it's just a relearn via button pushing.

Nope, they can all be reprogrammed via a standard machine. It's just that most smaller shops haven't bought one or learned how to use it... :/ b

I have yet to hear of a Tire shop that can do the Lexus/Toyota TPMS. I was at Discount a few weeks back and they still cant/dont offer the service. I am going today to get mine linked. I will post what they want to have it done. Last time they didnt charge and it was ~ 5 min to get them done.

let me know how much they charge, i think Discount Tire damaged my front left TPMS i bought a replacement and need to get it linked. Before i get it installed in the tire, what do i need to write down. I know there are two different sensors depending on when your car was manufactured, i just need to know where the code is found on the actual sensor, i see 6 different sets such as FCC ID, IC, ETC, CCC.

spxkat, I got my sensors programmed at Herb Chambers Lexus in Walpole for $50 total. I just brought a list of the ID # on each sensor (should be a combination of 7 letters and numbers) and the location of each sensor (ie driver's front) and they did it in a few minutes. Worth noting, the sensor won't send out a signal unless there is some air pressure present...so it's easiest to install the sensors in the wheel, mount and balance the tires, then put them on the car and drive it to the dealership.

I did a quick search on the forums and I think you're right. I could've sworn it had to be done by a Lexus/Toyota machine though... Too bad most tire shops around here don't carry that machine. =(

bartec along with a few other companies have developed a handheld machine that can program almost every car mfg out there right now via the OBD2 port. I saw a video of there site. Its pretty simple the just reads the codes off each sensor at the wheel and saves it then writes it to the car when you plug it up.

this machine costs around $2k-3K depending on the options...i think in a year or so all major tire shops will probably need to invest in one of these if they keep breaking sensors and all new cars have TPMS. In about 5-10 years it will be a must since sensor batteries will start dieing and it will become another service for them.

Default Done at dealership

I just paid $220 to get mine done at a dealership. Reputable tire and wheel shop in town could not do it.

$220 is not too bad for all 4 TPMS -- dealership near me charges double that. I bought Denso TPMS for $140 and then gone to Discount Tires for adding the TMPS for $40. They said it's super easy, doesn't even to have to "program", just add to the car.

$140 for all 4 brand new denso tpms sensors?

Did you guys need to buy like any valve kit or something?

Pretty sure they're all just talking about reprogramming existing sensors, not buying new ones.

Lear time I had to reprogram my tpms I was disgusted with the price the tire store was charging. I got lucky and found this, there are quite a few different ones, so you’ll have to find the one for your car.

I'm not exactly sure if they're branded or not, but it's listed as Denso on Amazon. I don't know what a valve kit is but you can check out the pic on Amazon.

I got a Lexus Denso TPMS replacement at the dealership that only lasted 5 years; these have been working for 5 years so far.
