Unhappy Something that make me concern tonight!

I was at my friend's house today. I wanted him to here the engine so I floored it all the way (car was parked)and the redlight on the tach odormeter was came up. Normally when I drive I only see it lights up orange. I floor several time but only once it show up the red ring and after it I didnt do it anymore...Is it normal or I got it too much pressure??? Is it gonna hurts the engine???

as long as you didn't go into the redline itself, i think you'll be fine. the red light comes on before the actual redline to warn i think but i may be wrong. just don't do it again.

it is bad to a degree.. just don't have too much fun doing that while you are in park and you just started your engine.. it's less damaging if you've riving for a while

I read somewhere that redlining your vehicle in neutral is worse than redlining while you are driving. If someone can come in here and clarify this.

Either way, it can't be good because the vehicle come with a rev limiter. In fact, i cant even redline my TL because it would shift for me right before redline or not go over 4k rpm in neutral.

I've redlined the ES before on accident but the car runs fine. Done worry too much and just dont do it again.

the light ring lights up and changes color at different RPMs. think of it as a "shift light".

as even the most well-built engines can withstand only so many full-throttle redline pulls, doing that accelerates engine wear and tear to the point that you might end up with premature engine failure.

Somewhat abusive to engine, but no harm done. Check manual as to how you can set "warning orange/red rings" for speedo and tach.
