Hey guys,

I need some input. I got halos done on my IS350 and there are some condensation inside both housings now. As a result, one of the bulbs was shorted out. According to Lexus when I took it to them, they said that even if I re-open it, remove all the moisture, and re-seal it, there would probably be condensation there as it's "still in the air". They recommended getting new housings as since once we opened it, there would always be moisture inside and even if we replace the bulb again, it would probably short again. He said in the short run, I can re-open the housings, remove all the moisture/water buildup, re-seal it, and then get some clear silicon seal and go around once or twice; but in the long run, I would need to get stock housings again.

Also, I had aftermarket HID foglights installed. They said it could melt that housing as well and recommend putting it stock. Any ideas on either of these problems? Thanks.

wow your dealer didnt try to blame it on your aftermarket HIDs? if they get you a new headlight can I have your old one ?

 

I had the same problem on my IS, I tried everything...including putting in silicone packs. It would fix the problem for a little while, but as soon as it rained or heavy snowstorms, I would see moisture the very next day. I lost like two bulbs in the last 6 months, so decided to take off my kit and get the lamps replaced.

 

you should like take the whole housing out and bring it in a really dry place and do your magic there. maybe

 

well, they blamed the condensation on the bulb shortages, but the aftermarket HID fog lights were a "possible" cause for the shortage too because they said it could have shorted the harness. They recommended new everything, of course, but i guess I can try the silicone packs if any one of you know what the best one for the job is. I live in southern CA, so it hardly rains here. The housings are at least $500 each at the dealer and i'm not sure what I want to do yet...I think I may try re-sealing first and wash my car after to see if anything leaks...unless anyone has any other suggestions? Thanks for your help guys...this thing giving me a headache...no, you can't have my old headlights either

 

take it appart, and bring it to a place where they do halos, or housings. thaey will seal it pretty good
