Default Now there's a problem with headlights?

Just got a "customer support program notification" in the mail from Lexus about early failure of halogen headlamps. Seems like a mini-recall, though only if someone experiences a failure. Extends the warranty out to 2019 on our headlights. Remedy is to replace the wiring harnesses with ones that damp down the voltage.

Anyone else get this? Anyone have a headlight fail yet? Mine are 8 years old now - if one had failed today I would have thought it was normal wearout for a halogen bulb. I've only gotten maybe 6-7 years out of previous ones. But hey, I'll take free replacements! Though I wonder if the remedy will reduce the brightness too...

I got it a few weeks ago. Have not had any headlight issues, and I only ran the stock H11 bulbs for a month before swapping to H9 bulbs. So if the slightly greater draw from the H9s did not cause any problems, I guess I am okay.

Maybe it is a ploy to get us into the dealer for all the additional repairs and maintenance they will suggest be performed.

H11 to H9 upgrade. Quick and easy once you do it. Buy three and carry a spare, cause the hotter burning H9 only last 4 years or so.

Yep. I had this problem if nobody else has. Both blew at once March 2016. I am the original owner. Blew out at about 50K. I go to work before the sun raises and started up the car. No lights. I thought something was funny. There was no light on either headlight. I had to drive our other car to work. I brought the car into the dealer the next dayand he said it all checked out, just both bulbs blew at once. They did not think it was strange. The recall indicates reimbursement for the repair , which cost me $214, and replacement of the harnesses. It is offered to everyone if you call to have it replaced, but it is not a formal recall. If you have the opportunity, I would do it, just so you are not surprised as I was.

I just did have both original fog light bulbs (H11) burn out, probably close to each other. However the car is 7 years old with 63,000 miles, so I go my money' s worth from them. If it ever warms up and stops raining I will change them.

my headlight went out how can I find out about this notification so I can take it there and have them fix it under warranty?
