I swapped out my wheels with my girlfriends wheels. We both have a AWD IS250 and since I'm selling my car my girl wanted my wheels. We just did a simple swap and now her TPMS is going off. I'm going to assume this is b/c of a new Senor ID that had not been registered to the car yet. I ran through the steps in initializing the sensor through < ON/OFF > option and held the < ON/OFF > button for over three seconds...it registered ok but still has the error (!)
Do I need to get this registered at Lexus? Am I missing something else? Tire's have been inflated well enough.
the registration is done in lexus dealerships where they use their computers to program each of the codes into the car..... initializing it... i think is only to swap between main and 2nd..
There's gotta be a way to find the register code for each sensor without unmounting the tire correct? Is this written somewhere when you buy the car????
lexus may have the coes for your original wheels. they have tool that can reed the sensors, what happens is they push the pin in the stem down releasing the air from the tire, at the same time a tool they have scans the monitor and a code that is associated will come up.
they overrode my main set by accident and didn't have the codes when i bought the car. the tech was nice enough to come to my house where my stocks where to get the codes off of the stock sensors and program them into my car right in my garage.
the dealers are the ones who have those things other than that... you have to unmount it... and yeah... $$$$ kaching kaching... go to the dealer... i am having mine programmed for free
actually... my mechanic has a tool that scans for code.... hm..... haven't seen it in action tho... Yes, you will have to swap sensors or get it reprogrammed.
The Lexus / Toyota Techstream laptops can pull the codes from each car.
You can than swap the TMPS Sensor ID's for both cars.. Just need that laptop from a dealership tech and some pen & paper..
Eventually, the TPMS light in your car is going to go off as well..
