Default Homelink

I have a GX470 and a IS250 with the Homelink System. I successfully added my garage doors to each of the cars but when it came to adding the gate to my neighborhood it would not take. I have tried all combinations listed in the manual, but it will not work. Does anyone have any insight on how to add the gate to my homelink system.

Not that this is of any help, but I've never had any luck getting gates to program in for some reason.

Are your garage doors rolling code? The gates very well may be, and there's a separate method for programming that type... but it sounds like you tried it already.

I know it took me three or four tries to get it to recognize rolling code. And once it was programmed, I noticed that I have to hold the button for a couple seconds every time i use it... much longer than the original remote.

i programmed my rolling code. but like the other guy said, i have to press the button down for over 1 second to open the door rather than just a quick tap.

I don't believe it's possible with most apartment/subdivision gates as they have their own rolling code. Similar to how you have to hit the learn button on the garage door in order to learn the code. It may work with older community gates, but not most current ones.

I did get my rolling code to work on my Homelink system, but I had to hit the reset on the garage door and resync my garage door opener and homelink system at the same time.

It ended up being a 2 person job. I had my roomie hold the reset on the garage door while i did the jig with the homelink and the stand alone garage door openers.

I did not get it to work with my security system. It wouldn't learn it, and when I contacted homelink they said it was unsupported, so it might be tough to get your gate to work.

Good luck!

Go to: http://www.homelink.com/home/home.taf There are FAQs and instructions for programming just about anything. I do believe, though, that once you clone your car to the remote, you will need to have the gate receiver "learn" your car. That is the normal procedure as, even though the car is a clone, it is still a distinct remote and has to be added to the receiver's memory.

Rolling code on the garage is doable. You will need to press the button on the garage door opener (head unit). Follow the manual and you will get it right.

As far as the gate door, it is most likely you won't be able to use homelink since you have no access to the sync button. That is intended to be.

Excellent point. I was just thinking that. Now I remember having to do the sync thing with the opener, which means the only way to do the gate is if you become really good friends with the maintenance guy

The "hold and not tap" thing is pretty annoying, but better than having an opener clipped to something.

What worked for me was putting fresh batteries in the Genie remote, then trying again.
